North Central Washington- Your Outdoors Playground

The topography of North Central Washington is etched in natural beauty that begs to be explored. Dense boreal forests meet with pristine lakes for abundant hiking and fishing while the great peaks of the Cascades frame the region on the West and the Columbia River binds it on the East.

The Wenatchee National Forest cradles towns like Leavenworth and Chelan, giving them the picture-perfect setting of a mountain vacation dream. In the city of Wenatchee, the Ohme Gardens provide stone pathways through aromatic hillside gardens that wind around mesmerizing waterfalls and tranquil pools. Central Washington University is located in Ellensburg and serves as a hub of activity in Kittitas Valley. The city is renowned for historic 19th century buildings and the Kittitas County Historical Museum showcases artifacts pertaining to Native American and pioneer heritage.

Leavenworth prides itself on being an alpine city decorated in Bavarian-style in the Pacific Northwest. Surrounded by mountain vistas the picturesque Front Street is home to German restaurants and beer pubs. Every October thousands of visitors flock to Leavenworth for Octoberfest — arguably the closest thing to being in Munich in Washington in the Fall.

The city of Chelan sits on the banks of the pristine glacial waters of Lake Chelan. A favorite in both summer and winter, Chelan is home to Slidewaters water park and hosts a week-long Winterfest in January.

The Wenatchee Valley is the perfect haven for outdoor enthusiasts. Known as ‘the apple capital of the world’ the fertile climate is aided by the sun shining for 300 days out of the year. The Columbia and Wenatchee Rivers are popular places for fly-fishing, water skiing, white river rafting, and inner-tubing.

During the winter months an abundance of trails are available for snowmobiling, snow shoeing and cross-country skiing in North Central Washington. Popular ski resorts include Mission Ridge and Stevens Pass.
